Core Gallery

Core Gallery showcases exceptional contemporary art through its inspiring annual exhibition programme: in three months it has brought over 1,000 visitors to the new art hotspot of Deptford, SE8.

The gallery's dynamic programme, consisting uniquely of curated shows, distinctly offers the opportunity for artists and curators to challenge and explore their own practices. Putting the freshest work from both local and international art spheres on public display, Core Gallery intends to develop the strengths of the existing arts sector in Deptford, by expanding its borders and bringing a wealth of talent and diversity to the Deptford scene.

Picked out by the New York Times, Deptford is a surfacing urban community with an artistic edge. It is home to an ever expanding artistic sphere and Core Gallery is at its centre.

Core Gallery's launch show Exquisite Corpse invited twenty two international artists and curators in a curatorially collaborative 'consequence' exhibition. We continue to work with a number of high profile artists and curators as well as inviting emerging artists from CSM and Goldsmiths to show in our space.

Beyond the exhibition programme, Core Gallery is devoted to engaging a wide cross-section of visitors through an active education programme. Educational activities, open studios and artists' and curators' talks complement all of our exhibitions and are open to all, professionals and non-specialists alike.

Core Gallery aims to serve its local artistic community by providing professional and affordable studio spaces for artists. A supportive artistic environment and flexible space contribute to the creative excellence that Core Gallery endeavours to promote. The gallery's location within a working studio complex fuels an energetic and productive atmosphere; visitors and makers are invited to share an appreciation for exhibited work alike.

Core Gallery is an entirely artist-led space; its international body comprises globally established artists and graduates from the Royal College of Art and Goldsmiths. Core Gallery is run by a commitee of artists from around the globe, who have exhibited worldwide, and includes graduates from the RCA and Goldsmiths.

Core Gallery is part of the Cor Blimey Arts charitable cooperative.
